General education, not a sales pitch for a specific lender. These guides cover how each financing option works, what to ask before you sign anything, and how financing interacts with an insurance claim.

How Financing Fits Into a Roof Project
- Get the scope first. A documented inspection and a written quote tell you what the project costs before you look at payments.
- Check whether insurance applies. If the damage came from a storm, a claim may cover most of it. See insurance claims.
- Compare cash and financing on total cost, not just the monthly payment.
- Read the terms in writing before you sign: rate, length, fees and what happens if you pay early.
Cash, Financing or Insurance?
| Option | Usually makes sense when |
|---|---|
| Cash | You have the savings and want the lowest total cost. |
| Financing | The roof can't wait, and spreading the cost helps your budget. Compare terms carefully. |
| Insurance claim | A covered event like hail or wind caused real damage well above your deductible. |
| Financing plus insurance | A claim covers the damage, but you need help with the deductible or upgrades. See financing a deductible. |
Financing Is Optional
Financing is optional, and you don't have to decide anything during the inspection. Before you sign with any lender, read our guide to red flags in contractor financing and the questions to ask any lender.
